12. CAEN: Museum of Normandy

Time to explore around Honfleur… Pays d’Auge… with a short stop in Beauvron-en-Auge… on the Route du Cidre… tasting the Norman teurgoule and enjoying a picnic from a local bakery… continuing our day trip to Caen… to learn more about the region’s history and ethnography at Musée de Normandie…
located in le château de Caen… built for William the Conqueror around 1060… damaged during bombings in 1944… beautifully restored since… we travel from prehistoric times… from peasants to warriors… from the Gauls to the Roman conquest… through cultural exchanges and barbarian invasions… to a rural Normandie with beautiful landscapes… rich in traditions, crafts and folklore.

Closing the loop back to Honfleur… the beach way… fossil hunt… sort of… from Houlgate to Auberville… Villers-sur-Mer… Deauville cyclists… too late for Trouville… back to cheese tasting in Honfleur… yum Livarot… beautiful Normandy… to revien 🙂
